Basics for Beginners
Electronic cigarettes are becoming very popular. The fact that they come in different flavours make them more attractive to smokers. Many people wonder how the electronic cigarettes are flavoured. E-liquids are contained in the cartridge section of the e-cigarettes and contain flavoured liquids. This juice consists of three major components. Nicotine is the main agent that, along with the added flavourings, produces the vapour. There are two kinds of agents used to produce vapour:
- PG or propylene glycol, and
- VG or vegetable glycerin, which is mainly for people with sensitivity to PG or allergies
Most of the e-liquids in Australia are based on PG. If you are new to electronic cigarettes or vaping, you should order a small batch of a new flavour so that you are not stuck with a flavour that you might not like. PG based e-juice produces less vapour and sweeter juices. On the other hand, VG based e-juice produces more vapour and has a less sweet aftertaste. In some e-cig brands, both types are mixed up. VG is known to be thicker than PG, and the resultant solution is a more soluble and consistent e-juice.
Nicotine is a principal component of e-liquid and is available in varying strengths. E-cigs can range from zero percent nicotine content to levels as high as 4.8% nicotine content. Nowadays, most brands keep the nicotine concentration in the e-juice around 2.6%. The nicotine level is defined in terms of milligrams per millimetre, which is then converted to a corresponding percentage. Thus, a nicotine content of 24 mg is interpreted as 2.4% nicotine strength.
Beginning with E-Smoking
When you are first becoming acquainted with e-cigarettes, the strength of nicotine that you use will depend upon different factors. Those who are used to smoking traditional cigarettes could start with electronic cigarettes that contain nicotine strength of 1.2% in their e-liquid. Many people say that they need electronic cigarettes of higher strength. If you plan to switch to vaping, you need to do research on the e-liquids and the brands that offer different choices. There are many ways to buy some that have different flavours and varying nicotine strength. You will be able to spend less money and get to enjoy different flavours if you do your research right. It is recommended that beginners start with e-liquids having no higher than 2.4% nicotine content. If you find the aroma too strong, you can choose one with a lower concentration of nicotine.
